Down syndrome and communication: how speech therapy helps
Children with Down syndrome often understand far more than they can express. The right communication support helps close that gap, and it can start in infancy.
Many children with Down syndrome have receptive language that runs ahead of their expressive language. In other words, they understand much more than they can say.
